Every Day Faith: Day Six (Armor)

Protection against evil

· Every Day Faith

"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:11-13

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”

Translation: the forces are always doing as much damage as they can usually in the form of lies and imbalance. You need to have spiritual armor on to stand up to this. The first step is believing that this battle is raging. Taking it seriously, but never fearing because, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” Luke 10:19

Ephesians 6:14-18

“Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.”

Action: memorize and remind yourself that you are protected by these in your everyday life so that you do not have to be victimized by darkness. Write, say, post-it note, whatever works for you to know these so you're not caught vulnerable in the battle against this present darkness.

Belt of Truth: fastened around the waist, the truth holds together all our parts.
Breastplate of Righteousness: protecting our most vital organs with Jesus’ right-ness.
Shoes of Peace: feet that are ready to spread the Peace of the Gospel.
Shield of Faith: protecting us from lies from the darkness with our faith in God.
Sword of the Spirit: the WORD/JESUS. The more word we have in us the bigger our sword is!
