The Expansion Pack: more verses I use in my prayer practice. Plus a new word.
I've listed the word I use each scripture with AND I added a word to the very beginning to fill in the first line of the prayer that Jesus teaches us to pray. "Our Father in Heaven: Abba" is all about learning to understand and accept his love.
ABBA <-- new "Our Father who is in heaven..."
Learning to know, REALLY KNOW, God's love for us first and foremost because if we don't get this we are powerless in everything. His love is the literal foundation of every single aspect of our faith. It seems like it should be obvious that God loves us. But is it? Do you believe it deeply? Start asking for MORE understanding of his love for you.
1 John 4:18
"There is no fear in love but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment and whoever fears has not been perfected in love."
Perfect me in your love, Daddy. Let me be so immersed in, fill up with, and grounded in your perfect love that nothing makes me afraid. Let me sink into your love like a down comforter. Make me notice where I'm fearful so I can examine those parts and allow your love in to banish and heal my fears.
"So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
I want to truly, intrinsically know your love, God. The kind of knowing that is in my bones. The kind of knowing that is without doubt or fear. I grab a hold and I just take it in fully! I don't question it, I don't wonder if I'm "doing it right". I just press into you love and trust it.
" And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
I TRUST YOU, GOD. You are my provider. You supply all my needs, you bless me, you bless my efforts, and you bless all that is connected with me.
Psalm 141: 3 and Psalm 19:14
"Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips."
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight."
I commit to noticing the negative or destructive words that I say out loud or in my head. Whether it's to others or more importantly, to myself, I will only speak words that build up and give life to my world. Teach me to focus on building my future through my words. I BELIEVE your promises with the God kind of faith and commit to speaking my belief.
2 Peter 1:5-8
"For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
I want to keep growing. I want to understand what you understand. I want to be a force of love. I resolve to say open to ALWAYS growing in these ways. There is no arrival and I will keep going.
"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come."
I want my spiritual senses to be on and ready to know what you're saying, Holy Spirit. Let me see here on earth as it is in heaven. Clear away anything in the way of seeing and hearing. Let me powerful in obedience to God.
